There is a level of close interaction and discussion among people from different classes, and even different degree programs. It is a grid of sorts; we find connections between ideas coming from very different places, aimed at very different issues.

MargaretheHattingh

South Africa
BA in Economics, Politics, and Social Thought (2019)

BCB is like Hogwarts: Studying the liberal arts in a little-known neighbourhood on the fringes of Berlin, we might as well have our noses pressed to potion books in a haunted castle in the Highlands of Scotland. We're wizards in training -- knights of the liberal arts. One day we'll be saving the world from magical mayhem.

NathanFrench

USA
BA in Humanities, the Arts, and Social Thought (2018)

For the majority of people a liberal arts education is really invaluable insofar as you can become your own judge and you can decide for yourself what is right and what is wrong, and how you want to live your life.

HanaKhalaf

Egypt
BA in Humanities, the Arts, and Social Thought (2019)

h.khalaf@berlin.bard.edu

Being aware of how our very lives are interlaced with the humanities and social sciences is like knowing the mechanics of a machine or the anatomy of the body. Everything falls apart without this knowledge.

NancyStanley

USA

Meeting so many students from around the world was something I was hoping for after high school, but I didn't expect to delve so deeply into learning about how cultures differ and how the things we are taught can change the way we think.

BonoSiebelink

Netherlands
BA in Humanities, the Arts and Social Thought (2019)

b.siebelink@berlin.bard.edu

Valuing education solely based on academic prestige, is simply missing the point. Liberal arts education constructs a personality, a personalised outlook upon a wide range of issues, which allows the student to not just know but to understand.

SalomeVacheischvili

Georgia
BA in Economics, Politics, and Social Thought (2017)

What I value the most about the education that this place is giving me is that it teaches me how to think, question, analyze and see the details that aren’t immediately evident.
