Bard College Berlin wins "Eine Uni - ein Buch" sponsorship

Bard College Berlin is pleased to announce that it is one of the ten German universities selected for the “Eine Uni - ein Buch” program. Funded by the Stifterverband and the Klaus Tschira Stiftung, and organized in cooperation with Die Zeit, the program supports universities to organize a wide range of events around a book that they consider central to their academic and community ethos.

Following a democratic voting process, the students, faculty and staff decided that Plato’s Republic should be the college’s submission for the “Eine Uni - ein Buch” program. The book will become the catalyst for a series of reading groups, discussions, lectures, debate sessions, civic engagement projects, screenings, performances and artistic projects under the heading “Plato Goes Live,” taking place in the Fall semester 2017, both on campus and at other venues in Berlin.

The events are aimed at various audiences, from the campus community, scholars, and Berlin refugees, to a wide general public, thus taking into consideration the program’s prerequisite to foster a multifaceted exchange around the book. The implementation of “Plato Goes Live” will be funded with 5000 EUR.
