Summer Theater Intensive

Students in the Summer Theater Intensive Program performing at Bard College Berlin's Factory

Between June 10 and July 10, 2017 Bard College Berlin will again host the Summer Theater Intensive Program, which aims to foster the creative engagement between students and a wide variety of multi-disciplinary artists working in theater and performance in Berlin.

The program will explore techniques in the devising and creating of original theater works, as well as immerse the participants in Berlin's theater and performance culture through regular outings to performances, museums, galleries, and other cultural venues, to Berlin’s artistic or historical landmarks, or through meetings with artists. The courses will help the participants develop a vocabulary of creation around a series of themes, both through lectures and studio work.

The program is organized by Jonathan Rosenberg who is an Artist-in-Residence at Bard College. Faculty (time-permitting): Eva Burghardt (dancer and choreographer), Anna Kohler (performer and director), Stephan Kaegi (Rimini Protokoll), Nina Tecklenburg (Interrobang, Gob Squad, She She Pop), Robyn Orlin (Laurence Olivier Award winner for Outstanding Achievement in Dance), Julia Hart (director), Simon Stockhausen (composer and sound designer), Florian Becker (Bard College Berlin), Aya Soika (Bard College Berlin), Dawn Akemi Saito (performer and Butoh dancer and winner of the Uchimura Prize), Christina Wheeler (singer, composer, and sound artist), and others.
