Campus Conversations

Campus Conversations is a yet young community project hosted by BCB in co-operation with Refugee Academy. The aim of the project is to provide a platform where all members of the Berlin community can freely and equally engage in language learning and cultural exchange. The project does not pretend to create a hierarchy between teachers and students but instead depends on the contributions of all its participants to the discussion.

So far our focus has been on German language learning, but we plan on diversifying the types of lessons offered as more people become involved. The health and diversification of the project depend on the potential contributions from the community in providing lessons of their own and in offering whisper translations during the conversation. In this way the project fosters an environment where students, refugees, neigbours and all interested can teach each other and learn from one another. The project hopes to provide a varied program including discussions of relevant topics (e.g. the refugee crisis), academic writing, film screenings, language practice and personal skill development in fields like digital literacy and academic writing.

Thanks to the enthusiasm of our participants, our previous sessions were a success, thus we invite you to join in and help us continue the Campus Conversations every Thursday from 6-8pm on the BCB campus (Platanenstr. 24, 13156 Berlin). We hope to see you there!
